About Prairie Scholé Homeschool Co-op
Founded by Classical Academic Press, Scholé Communities are homeschooling co-ops that employ the content of a classical, Christian curriculum blended with restful learning or scholé.
Prairie Scholé Homeschool Co-Op is an Aberdeen-based LLC and comprised of a local community of homeschooling families seeking to provide a beautiful and robust classical education for our children. Guided by the steering committee and a commitment to classical education we work to model a love of learning and foster in our students the desire to seek what is true, good, and beautiful.
This rewarding, difficult work requires training and support. Classical Academic Press offers this—through mentors, resources and reduced priced materials and training.
We are first and foremost a Christian co-op and our deep desire is, with our children, to behold the beauty of Christ, “whose banner over [us]; is love.” We adopt the maxim “every moment holy” to remind ourselves that Christ is present as we learn the beauty of Latin, when we gather to pray and sing, when we share a fellowship meal—but also while we are chatting in the hallways, changing a diaper, or wrestling with a difficult text. Together we seek to uncover God’s good character in all we do.

Vision & Purpose
Our vision is to provide regular community and outstanding educational opportunities in the classical Christian tradition to homeschooling families on the Northern Plains.
We believe academic work can be challenging and balanced without being frenetic, monotonous, or stressful. That is why we practice the principle multum non multa or “much not many” and strongly encourage our families to practice it as well. Another distinctive of our co-op can be summed up in the word Story. In all we do, and in the programs and curricula we select, we seek to remind ourselves and our students that God is the Author of life and every good story finds its place in the One True Story, that is, the story of Salvation History. “Well, there you are: a hobbit amongst the Urukhai,” wrote J.R.R. Tolkien to his young adult son Christopher. “Keep up your hobbitry in heart, and think that all stories feel like that when you are in them. You are inside a very great story!” |
